In the words of Dr. Terry Todd, no lift is better at measuring an athlete's absolute strength than the deadlift. At the Arnold Strongman Classic, the Hummer Tire Deadlift does just that. Athletes pull weights ranging from 800 to 1100 lbs. in the form of Hummer tires attached to a 15-foot barbell. In this event, the best of the best are quickly separated from the rest of the pack.
One of the most exciting events of the Arnold Strongman Classic is the fan-favorite hummer tire deadlift, and 2014 was no exception. Three competitors matched or broke Mark Felix's previous world-record lift of 1128 lbs., set in 2013. Zydrunas Savickas of Lithuania set a new world record by lifting 1155 lbs.
